  • Exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Library Technician to Join State Library Victoria, where you will be responsible for accessioning and cataloguing donated material with a focus on nutrition and dietetics.

About the role:
This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join an energetic and driven team, focusing on accessioning and cataloguing a significant donation the Library has received.

Success in this role will rely on your collaboration skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders to support the various outputs of working on the donated collection, and more broadly with the Description Published Material team.

The Senior Library Technician within the Description Published Materials team is accountable for:

  • Ensuring collection material is discoverable by creating, enhancing and maintaining quality metadata for published, processing collections, and data management. 
  • Contributing towards a positive and professional image of the Library through exceptional personal presentation and donor liaising skills.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activities and adhering to relevant policies and processes to ensure services meet best practice and Library requirements.

About you:

You are someone who actively engages with continuous improvement, with an acute eye for detail. You have knowledge of contemporary metadata standards, focusing on published materials. You will ensure collection material is discoverable by creating, enhancing, and maintaining quality metadata for published resources, and you are skilled in data management. Your knowledge of cataloguing standards and tools will support the Library in providing high quality services to meet the information and collection access needs of current and future users.
