Technical Specialist

  • VPS4: $87,640 - $99,438 per annum plus superannuation
  • Full Time Fixed Term Contract until 1 March 2022
  • Located in Kew (flexible/working from home arrangements)

To provide investment strategy and deliver commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.

About the opportunity

You will build and manage the hosting environments and associated Infrastructure services ensuring continuity and availability. You will also ensure that the proposed and existing hosting environments and associated Services are aligned with company objectives and meet business outcomes in a timely manner. You will also be responsible to identify and resolve issues related to infrastructure to minimize service interruption.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Exercise professional independent judgement in the effective and efficient management of the DoT Data Centre and associated infrastructure and services to ensure maximum levels of productivity, availability and reliability of data centre infrastructure in the provision of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) services to DoT.
  • Coordinate activities to support and enhance the DoT data centre and monitor processes to ensure compliance to relevant sections of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library framework in order to ensure efficient and effective resolution of incidents, identification and elimination of recurring incidents and the release of fully tested, secure and reliable changes to ICT hardware or software in the data centre.
  • Develop innovative responses to complex problems within the DoT data centre and across related products and services where defined policy, procedures and precedents may not exist and work closely with other members of the Technical Services team to ensure solutions are effectively implemented and documented.
  • Provide high level customer service through effective issue resolution and end-to-end customer management.


Key Selection Criteria

  • Understand the interrelationships between hardware, software and the network and applies this to technology integration activities.
  • Ability to apply quality procedures, while interpreting and reviewing the development of guidelines, standards and work instructions in IT.
  • Identify and manage issues resolution through the implementation of solutions, ensuring application of the ITIL framework, as well as assessing all available information and making recommendations or plans.
