The position of Senior Project Officer forms part of the Local Government Victoria branch within the Local Government and Suburban Development group. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sector Resilience and Capability, this position provides high quality advice and input into the development and implementation of key projects and initiatives relating to resilience and emergency management that impact on the local government sector. The role is an integral part of the Sector Innovation, Performance and Resilience branch, with a key focus on leading the implementation of the Local Government Victoria led emergency management projects. The position also provides input and advice across Local Government Victoria on how best to support local governments and increase their capacity, capability, collaboration and resilience before, during and after emergencies.

Key accountabilities are:

  1. Provide authoritative, expert and timely advice analysis of capability and capacity of local government in Victoria in relation to emergency management.
  2. Lead and manage the preparation of advice and implementation of strategies in relation to complex local government funding issues and delivery of Emergency Management related projects.
  3. Provide expertise and knowledge to understand and strategically respond to significant emergency management events and identify those agencies involved in those events.

As the ideal candidate, you will have strong project management skills, demonstrated strategic implementation ability and effective stakeholder management skills.
