Join one of the leading Environmental consultancies within NSW who are making a huge impact within the field of Environmental Management and Approvals, along with offering a range of other environmental and heritage services. The company are made up of a multi-disciplinary team of ecologists, archaeologists, environmental engineers, heritage architects and other dedicated environmental professionals (over 70 staff members across NSW).

They have been busier than ever and due to their every-growing portfolio of work, are looking to bring on a Senior Environmental Approvals Specialist with a proven track record of working within the transport and/or utilities sector.

This consultancy is currently in growth phase and it is an exciting time to join - the work they are doing is pioneering in shaping NSW's environmental and conservation outcomes; and the people within the company are pivotal to this.

Your new role
The consultancy are looking for a passionate senior approvals professional to manage projects in Sydney and across NSW. The position will be a supportive role to the Team Leader and Director and they are looking for someone who is able to work independently, winning projects themselves being able to scope and cost proposals, and respond directly to tender briefs and present on project deliverables (both to them and key stakeholders).

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • State Significant Development / State Significant Infrastructure Approvals
  • Part 4 (Development Assessment) and Part 5 (Environmental assessment)
  • Medium to larger Reviews of Environmental Factors / Modificjations
  • Small to Medium Environmental Impact Statements / Assessments.

All of the above will be specific to the Transport/Utilities Sector.

What you'll need to succeed
It is essential for this role that you have NSW Planning System experience (as it relates to Environmental Approvals) as well as the following key requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working on Environmental Approvals within the Transport/utilities sector (preferable private sector however both public/private sector considered)
  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science/management/planning/engineering, resource management, or other related discipline.
  • Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated capacity to lead and produce high quality content written for a range of approvals documents.
  • Confidence to manage other disciplines proving to be a good project manager.
  • Extensive experience responding to tender briefs, writing proposals and costing tenders against the relevant planning legislation.
  • EIANZ certified practitioner or on pathway to accreditation (or the willingness/drive to attain the accreditation) would be desirable.
