As the Engine installation and Cooling Design Engineer you will design and develop cooling systems and package energy systems, cooling schematics and general systems design for heavy earthmoving vehicles. You will be responsible for providing engineering and related services in support of the Engineering System team; taking projects from the conceptual stage through to production, participating, engaging, managing and/or delivering engineering services including drafting/modelling, design, testing and/or analysis.
Past experience designing cooling systems and packaging energy systems in the earthmoving, heavy transport or heavy industrial environment would be advantageous.
You will be a motivated individual with sound time management skills with an ability to manage your own workload and to coordinate design efforts with other on-site and off-site engineers to provide cost effective, reliable and manufactural designs to support project timelines.
An understanding and ability to interpret ISO/Industry Design Quality Standards is a requirement of this role.
Tasks include but not limited too:
- Design & detail of cooling systems and engine installation
- Develop and maintain cooling schematics
- General light structure design & detailing
- General design and routing on fluid systems
- Update drawings using Solidworks/Creo or similar 3D modelling package
- Work with suppliers to design cooling packages with an eye to modularity
- Management of own projects and timelines
Required skills and experience:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Demonstrated experience in Engine packaging / Cooling System Design
- Demonstrated experience in cooling system vehicle testing
- Prior design experience with underground machinery is advantageous
