JOB DESCRIPTION
Well established business located in Strath Creek is looking for an AQF qualified full-time Chef with at least three years of relevant experience or a holder of Australian AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2). Applicants would be expected to performe, are but not limited to:
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
- To coordinate, monitor and supervise the work of cooks and other food preparation workers.
- Inspect the levels of ingredients, supplies and other raw materials and ensure that they are available in sufficient quantities as per required orders.
- Schedule the food production and lay down the operational schedule by making optimum use of resources and materials at hand.
- Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers, dietitians, kitchen and wait staff.
- Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures
- Prepare and cook food.
- Work with the management and show active participation in assigning prices to various menu items, based on factors such as cost of labour, ingredients and other overhead costs.
- Explain and enforce hygiene regulations
- Select and train staff
- Monitor food inventory and take appropriate action to ensure food quality and service standards were consistently met.
- Freeze and preserve foods.
