About Us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues at metropolitan and regional locations, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

About the role

The role is a leading role in the Finance, Business Services and Procurement branch with key responsibilities of overseeing and driving the delivery of accounting and financial management responsibilities within and across the Court. The Budget Manager will be responsible for contributing to strategic and business planning activities, budget development and reconciliation, providing timely advice to a range of stake holders and supporting the leadership group, program managers, project managers and registrars across the state.

The Budget Manager will have portfolio responsibilities to deliver high quality accounting and financial management services including preparation of annual budgets, reports, projections, forecasts and provide timely information and advice to support efficient and effective operations ensuring alignment with the Court's strategic direction and annual business plans. 

About you

The ideal candidate will be an experienced budget and financial officer manager skilled in delivery of budget builds, financial reporting, budget planning, corporate governance, guiding advise, and influencing key financial decision within a Division of the Magistrates Court of Victoria.

Academic qualifications within a relevant budget/financial, Expenditure Review Committee processes, accounting knowledge or policy related discipline are considered ideal. Formal financial/accounting qualifications are highly regarded. Experience in government budgeting and financial processes in an organisation of similar size and scope is advantageous. Ability to work independently and in Teams is desirable with a high level of stakeholder management skills is considered essential to success.
