Chefs – Sous Chefs and Chef De Parties

Location: Karratha, WA 6714

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: AUD 60,000 – 90,000

The Tav Sports Bar is looking for qualified Sous Chefs and Chef de Parties who have experience working in a busy kitchen, delivering good quality and modern innovative food.

Major Tasks and Duties:

  • Prepare full range of foods according to the menu
  • Prepare, cook, serve and store food items in regards to the requirements of our kitchen
  • Ensure the production of all food is prepared according to our standard
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Maintain excellent presentation standards
  • Freeze and preserve foods according to the requirements of our Kitchen
  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, health and hygiene requirements
  • Monitor and manage stock ordering
  • Liaise, supervise and work with cooks and to assist them to ensure safe and efficient production of food, while maintaining all statutory requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective employee working relationships with all members in the kitchen
  • Supervise and assist the kitchen staff in the Head Chef’s absence
  • Discussing food preparation issues with Head Chef
  • Being able to assist with daily specials for the venues
  • Maintain the standards that the Head Chef & management have implemented within the company.
  • Be innovative and creative
  • Train the kitchen staff

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma Level Qualification or equivalent is a minimum requirement
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • Experienced in the kitchen
  • Proven experience as a Chef
  • Proven track record of being competent in the kitchen and in the Head Chef’s absence
  • Be a reliable, hardworking, self-motivated, team player & be able to keep a cool head under pressure.
  • Have an eye for detail.
  • Background in Italian cuisine &/or modern Australian pub cuisine is an advantage but not a necessity 
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
