JOB DESCRIPTION

Heaydon Diesel Services is a heavy equipment repairer and engineering company located in Queensland.

We have a full time position available for an experienced and skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our busy workshop in Brendale. Position will attract some Saturday work.

Your duties and responsibilities

While work varies with each job, key responsibilities will include:

  • Preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance to a variety of different earthmoving equipment (dozers; excavators; buckets and attachments) to ensure optimal operational requirements
  • Engineering maintenance and repairs in the workshop and onsite
  • Trouble shooting, diagnosis and repair for equipment breakdowns
  • Follow schematic drawings and manuals and specific maintenance programs to carry out repairs
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify faults and ensure maintenance and repairs are being carried out per schedules
  • MIG, TIG, Oxy-plasma cutting and Stick welding
  • Assist with general metal work (cutting, grinding, drilling, etc.) to fit parts to equipment
  • Managing repairs, servicing and maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Review, create and modify preventative maintenance plans for optimum reliability
  • Follow safe work practices
  • Complete documentation for all work performed
  • Support improvement projects that aim to reduce unplanned stoppages

Your skills and experience

  • Relevant qualification or a minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a heavy engineering workshop
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of the operation, assembly/disassembly and maintenance requirements of heavy duty construction equipment
  • Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills and ability to diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Confident in welding and fabricating
  • Good communication and time management skills and able to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Punctual time management, and able to work unsupervised
  • Reliable, responsible, have a positive can-do attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Current Forklift license an advantage

Annual salary

In line with industry expectations, expect a salary between $80,000 to $100,000 depending on skills and experience. Superannuation in addition to annual base rate.
