TRANSPORT CLERK

Benara Nurseries is the leading production nursery in Western Australia providing quality Green life products to the retail market throughout Australia.

A family owned and operated company with extensive growing facilities in the northern suburbs of Perth, Benara has been in the plant business since 1963.

The Logistics team is responsible for up to 10 drivers who deliver to customers across metro Perth and regional WA.

It is a permanent full-time position, shifts rotate fortnightly between 5am - 1pm and 12am - 8pm, (Friday 10am - 6pm) there will be a requirement for on call and weekend work, however this is subject to change. In addition, you will be required to work overtime during peak seasonal periods.

Rate of pay is $25 per hour plus a weekly performance bonus.

About you:

You are a self-motivated person who enjoys working autonomously and thrives within a busy team. You can problem solve and prioritise in a fast pace, high-pressure environment to ensure deadlines are met. You have previous experience as a transport clerk or you work within the transport and logistics industry and aspire to become a Fleet Controller / Scheduler.

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling the fleet of heavy articulated vehicles liaising with drivers to ensure materials are delivered on time
  • Liaising with customers to maintain strong relationships
  • Scheduling work in the most cost effective manner to utilise all vehicles and equipment efficiently

  • Proven ability to problem solve within a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised and cooperatively within a strong team environment
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and safety
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent organisational skills to maximise operational planning
  • Sound knowledge of metro Perth and regional Western Australia
  • Current WA Drivers Licence
  • Previous experience in logistics and/or road transport
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test

Desirable:

  • Ability to analyse information and make appropriate decisions quickly
  • Understanding and knowledge of transport and vehicle laws and regulations
  • HR license
  • Forklift Certificate
