JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Role
The main role is to work as a head chef to plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food in our restaurant. You will be working along with team of cooks and kitchen hands. You will report to the owner.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Excellent English language communication skills
  • Maintain good hygiene and personal presentation skills
  • Must be able to perform well under pressure when restaurant is extremely busy
  • Must be able to work on the weekend and early mornings when required


Duties and Responsibilities
Your will be performing the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Cook to order all meals as per restaurant and cafe recipes
  • Assist and instruct cook to prepare and cook food
  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
  • Assist restaurant management in catering
  • Assist restaurant management and kitchen staff when required by manager
  • Open and set up kitchen everyday
  • Maintain inventory and order restaurant supplies
  • Support the training and success of job work experience members and volunteers
  • Organise work experience members and volunteers while providing appropriate guidance
  • Oversight to complete daily kitchen tasks including cooking, food prep, stocking and assisting in serving meals
  • Assist restaurant management in making and editing restaurant menu
  • Adhere to all safety, nutrition, food handling and sanitation requirements of the public health department
  • Help keep refrigerators and freezers clean and food labelled
  • Selecting, training and supervising kitchen staff
