The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join our team at The Wollongong Foot and Ankle Centre.

The centre is a world class, brand new, purpose built, multi-disciplinary facility with orthopaedic surgery, podiatry, ultrasound and rehabilitation all on site.

Located in central Wollongong, the centre was launched in mid-August 2020 and is an Australian first concept in providing such a comprehensive range of foot and ankle complementary services all in one location.

We are a dynamic centre that is seeking to redefine how healthcare services are delivered and seeking an innovative and highly organised leader to join us on our journey. We have experienced significant growth over a short period of time and we continually challenge ourselves to really extend what is possible in foot and ankle care.

This position is well suited to an experienced practice manager looking to take the next step up in their career.

Working in partnership with orthopaedic surgeons, podiatrists and leading the patient services team, this opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong track record of leading and developing high performing teams. Reporting to the CEO, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and operationalise the strategic vision of the centre.

About you

You will have excellent leadership skills and be passionate about developing and coaching strong teams and would have previously held leadership roles. You would have previously worked in healthcare, gained relevant experience and be familiar with the processes and complexities of running a health care business.

You will be a natural leader and confident in managing ongoing professional development and training of team members. You will be comfortable with change and have experience working in a culture of continuous improvement and growth.

Highly organised, you will be able to effectively prioritise and delegate a substantial workload to ensure that the centre runs smoothly, and that patient and clinician needs are met. Your attention to detail will enable you to govern the quality of deliverables and ensure a high level of professionalism.

You will be naturally curious and continue to review systems and processes, identify opportunities for improvement and be effective in leading and implementing change.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Lead the patient services team of 6 experienced individual who deliver an excellent service to patients and clinicians
  • Govern and ensure quality of the core patient services processes including patient management, billing, inventory management, reconciliation and payroll
  • Continually refine processes and promote continuous improvement
  • Effectively manage conflict using structured conflict resolution techniques to achieve desired outcomes
  • Support the team by undertaking transactional tasks as required including managing theatre lists and equipment, invoicing and reconciliation of Medicare, DVA, Work Cover and Health Fund accounts
  • Govern the overall organisation of clinics to ensure they run smoothly
  • Facilitate daily stands ups, meetings and fortnightly team workshops
  • Ensure the quality and professionalism of written communication from the centre
  • Other duties as required
Experience and skills:
  • A bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) or formal qualifications preferred
  • High standard of digital literacy
  • Previous experience using Genie/Gentu or other practice software, Microsoft office and working with electronic medical records
  • Comfortable with medical terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Adaptable to a fast paced ever changing environment
  • Have a high attention to detail
