Job Description

The Company:

Sabcha Pty Ltd, trading under the name P’Nut Street Noodles, delivers premium and authentic Asian cuisines that are inspired from regions in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and China. We have 11 restaurants across Australia. We are passionate about creating unique a food experience for our patrons that is based on taste, quality and freshly produced ingredients.

We are seeking a full-time Cook to work in one of our restaurant locations based in Brisbane QLD. The position will involve:

The Role:

  • Preparing meals to order for patrons in collaboration with the Chef.
  • Maintain food quality and presentation under pressure. Plating the food as per our distinct style and ensuring that the relevant sauces and garnishes are added to achieve signature flavours, and seeking final approval from the Chef prior to service.
  • Assessing the quality of the produce and ingredients received from suppliers prior to preparing the food as well as the final product to be consumed by the customers
  • Monitoring the temperature of various cooking appliances including ovens, fryers and woks during food preparation to ensure that the food meets health standards.
  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus with Executive Chef, Restaurant Manager.
  • Notify Restaurant Manager or Head Chef of potential low stock levels and place orders on their behalf when requested to do so - accepts and checks all deliveries including weighing
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers.
  • Help to create good communication between floor and kitchen staff and within the kitchen
  • Monitoring perishable stock to minimise wastage and prevent contamination.
  • Fill in for the Head & Sous Chef in planning menus and directing food preparation when necessary.
  • Maintaining excellent grooming and hygiene ensuring all grooming standards are met in relation to personal grooming and uniform presentation.
  • Complying with the Business Safety & Environment policies, initiatives and legislation.
  • Promptly report maintenance issues with kitchen equipment and ensure they are corrected promptly.
  • Assist with the training of staff, including any apprentices and trainees.

Requirements:

  • Either Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery.
  • At least three years of experience in a licensed restaurant setting, premium dining and/or silver service environment. Will not consider experience gained from fast food outlets or casual café/dining environments.
  • Preference for experience in Asian cuisine dining

To be successful in this position:

Ideally, you will hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and have three years of work experience in premium fine dining restaurants specialising in Asian cuisines.

At P`Nut street noodles, we will also consider applicants with a minimum three years’ experience in a similar role, if no formal certification is attained.

Certification is preferred but not compulsory as on the job relevant experience is more significant. All Cooks undergo recipe test and are timed on their wok techniques and sauce making. For the right candidate, we are committed to developing and enhancing your skills and knowledge in food preparation, presentation and delivery.

There is potential for growth within the business, for example to become a head chef, managing the entire kitchen and training new staff and apprentices.

  • The ability to assist the Chef in the smooth operation of the kitchen environment

  • Flexible and willing attitude, clear communication and customer service skill
  • Base salary is $50,000 to $60,000 per year plus superannuation.
