The Client

Our Client is a Local Government Council located within the Northern Territory in the beautiful Arafura Sea. There are school and medical facilities on the islands, with regular plane, passenger ferry and barge services operation to Darwin. Rich with culture, tradition, art, and coastal landscapes working with this council would provide an enriching work-life experience.

The Opportunity

A fabulous career move for an experienced Diesel Mechanic exists with this dynamic Local Government Council. You will be responsible for providing mechanical services to Council and the community, ensuring all Council vehicles, heavy earth moving equipment, and other plant machinery are serviced and kept in a well-maintained condition for use. In addition, you will maintain the Workshop and ensure all tools, plant and equipment are well-kept.

About You

Are you an experienced and passionate Diesel Mechanic seeking an exciting new opportunity? As the Diesel Mechanic, you will have a wide range of highly developed mechanical skills, excellent diagnostic ability, and a high level of problem-solving skills. You will have previous experience worth with a range of plant and machinery and have knowledge of their mechanical functions. In addition, to be successful the following are required:

  • Certificate III or above in Engineering – Mechanical Trade specialising in diesel fitting is essential
  • Current Tradesman Registration
  • 2+ years experience in diesel fitting
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Regulations
  • Local Government experience (Desirable)
  • Experience working within remote Aboriginal Communities as well as knowledge of indigenous culture
  • Certificate in auto electrical and air-conditioning (desirable)
  • Current NT “C” class license
