JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Communications Advisor to work as part of a small and multidisciplinary team for this Large Federal Government Agency. Reporting directly to the Internal Communications Manager, you will assist with content creation, strategy development, campaign management and reporting. Your proven ability to provide targeted communications advice and support to business areas, and assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating internal and/or external communication strategies will see you secure this role.

This is a 12 month contract, to commence May 24th. Competitive APS6 rate, starting at $60ph + Super, negotiable for right candidate.

The Team:

Overarchingly, your new team provide strategic advice to the organisation to ensure the actions and decisions of the agency are well understood, and to further their positive positioning.

The external media and communication teams manage external engagement, including advising preparing and responding to media releases and enquiries, managing social media channels, and providing strategic communications advice to business areas. The internal communications function provides staff with information and guidance on our operations, they support and promote the visibility and capability of our leadership cohorts and managing internal events. The digital publishing and editorial teams are responsible for branding, design, writing and editing, and supporting the publication of content and externally facing publications.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, produce, and edit high quality and engaging content that addresses the needs of different audiences and channels including the web/intranet, e-newsletter and/or presentations
  • Translate complex language into engaging content, appropriate for identified audiences and channels
  • Keep abreast and work in accordance with agency and APS-wide editorial policies and guidelines, accepted rules of grammar, style, and format
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate internal and/or external communication strategies and campaigns
  • Provide strategic communication and staff engagement advice to business areas
  • Conduct regular evaluation and reporting to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and delivery channels, identifying opportunities to increase the usage and relevance of the channel
  • Support the successful delivery of agency-wide events and presentations
  • Provide expertise and communications knowledge across a range of programs and activities

About you:

You are a strong communicator, motivated and experienced to deliver exceptional stakeholder engagement. Motivated and able to work under limited direction. You are known for your excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment to solve problems quickly and effectively. Government experience is preferred, and demonstrated ability to plan, organise and prioritise a demanding workload in a high paced environment.
