The Role: IT/Automation/Networks Engineer, AHS Project (Maules Creek, NSW)
Whitehaven are one of the first Coal producers in Australia to invest in the Hitachi Autonomous Haulage System (AHS)

The IT/Automation/Networks Engineer - AHS is accountable for providing engineering support to the AHS Project. This includes, planning and scheduling for field and on-board IT/Network and Automated installations, integration with Maintenance, development of methods and procedures to enable AHS Operations and a variety of general AHS project management activities.

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • A good all-round knowledge of IT and a proficient understanding of Cyber Security risks, threats, best practices, and prevention measures.
  • Extensive experience and specialist skills in the configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies in the communications sphere and their potential commercial applications.
  • Design, scope, architect, and implement Infrastructure Solutions.
  • Convert business projects into realistic technical solutions and assist the business to make decisions on infrastructure, technology, and security.
  • Troubleshoot Infrastructure environments for efficient resolution of business-critical applications/systems.
  • Liaise with external service providers to identify, troubleshoot, and support/maintain the environment.
  • Showcase your time management and project management skills balancing your workload across incidents and project work.
  • Engage internal business stakeholders at all levels, including senior management stakeholders.
  • Continuously strive to improve IT Infrastructure support and business systems.
  • Manage workload efficiently and maintain accurate documentation for project work.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure infrastructure is maintained and secured to best practices.
  • Assist Project Director in preparation of annual budget schedules/ forecasts.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience, and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Providing technical support across Networks (Cisco, Fortinet, WAN/LAN, Wireless)
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues in a Microsoft environment (Windows, Servers, Active Directory, O365)
  • CCNA, ITIL v3, MCITP/MCTS and/or relevant technical qualifications is highly regarded.
  • Proven experience with the design, provisioning, and management of connectivity technologies in switch/router enterprise network, including demonstrated knowledge of transport media (Ethernet, DSL, ATM, 3G, 4G, wireless LAN).
  • Demonstrated extensive experience and knowledge in Routing & Switching, IP VPN technologies, BGP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VoIP, QoS, RADIUS, ISE, Large Scale Wireless Deployments including configuration and patching experience with enterprise products such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, Rajant Networks, Juniper SRX and Splunk
  • Comprehensive experience in administration of Microsoft/Office 365, AAD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Skype for Business, MS Power BI, and MS Power Automate.
  • Sound knowledge in Microsoft Security technologies including Intune, Endpoint Management, and Threat Analytics.
  • RIICOM301A - Communicate Information (or equivalent)(desirable).
  • RIIOHS301A - Conduct Health and Safety Investigations (or equivalent)(desirable).
  • RIIRIS301A - Apply Risk Management Processes (or equivalent)(desirable).
  • Experience in Mining industry is highly desirable
