Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Senior Resident Medical Officer to kick start their critical care career with the Emergency Department at Concord Hospital

What you will be doing

This position is open to qualified candidates who have experience and interest in Emergency Medicine. You will be involved in the clinical care and management of patients requiring emergency medical services. This is a great opportunity for you to gain experience in a complex clinical environment whilst also having responsibility for autonomous practice commensurate with your level of experience.

This role is ideal for those with an interest in Emergency Medicine as a career or those who wish to further their experience in acute care medicine. Candidates must also be willing to rotate to Canterbury Hospital, a smaller metropolitan hospital which also forms part of our Network. Other terms may be negotiable subject to availability.

The Department of Emergency Medicine

The Emergency Medicine Department is an accredited training facility with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM). 
You will be well supported by a team of 11 Emergency physicians and Advanced Trainees with a high patient acuity population with on site and after hours support. Consultant cover is from 8 am to midnight, 7 days a week. The Emergency team forms part of the multidisciplinary group which includes a full time mental health clinical nurse consultant, physiotherapist and the full suite of sub-specialty services on site and on-call excluding paediatrics and limited obstetrics. 
Our Department is the primary receiver for major burns for Western Sydney and the primary PTCA for STEMI 24/7. In addition, the stroke team provide thrombolysis 24/7; there is a major mental health facility on-site with its own admission centre and a comprehensive supportive geriatric service, including orthogeriatrics and ED right to admit.
Come and join our friendly staff in the inner west of Sydney, conveniently located near transport with onsite parking available. Regular teaching is available on a range of emergency medicine and related topics.

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. We offer a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as Centre’s of excellence. Major services include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged Statewide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Concord Hospital maintains string links to the veteran community.
