About the Role
Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager 2 to work at Nepean Hospital general surgical ward. This is a full time position working Monday-Friday

  • The Nursing/Midwifery Unit Manager ensures that the physical, human and financial resources at the local level are managed effectively to meet the needs of patients and service demand
  • The N/MUM acts as an advocate for patients/clients and staff and promotes consumer involvement in care delivery. The role and responsibilities of the N/MUM includes a duty of care to staff to ensure that there is a safe working environment and that staff are developed appropriately to meet the service demands and to realise their potential
  • Given the role and responsibilities of the position it is important that the N/MUM is physically present on the unit the majority of the time supervising clinical care and attending to all matters relating to the efficient functions of the ward/service

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Midwife / Registered Nurse
  2. Relevant postgraduate qualifications in management or working towards attainment
  3. Demonstrated skills in quality improvement/redesign projects and the associated change management
  4. Demonstrated sound financial skills with an ability to interpret financial reports
  5. Proven ability to motivate, manage and develop nursing/midwifery staff to maintain a positive workplace culture
  6. Proven ability to assess nursing/midwifery utilisation and resource requirements within agreed targets
  7. Demonstrated effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
