The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) is looking for an experienced senior executive to take on the role of Deputy Secretary Strategy, Delivery & Performance (SDP). 

  • Contribute to the delivery of government programs, polices and services in regional NSW. 

  • Strategic deploy data-driven insights to make regional NSW an even better place to live, work, visit and do business. 

  • Full-time ongoing role with location negotiable, however regular travel is required to across Regional NSW. 

  • TRP from $346,262 pa for this role and will be commensurate with experience. 

Who we are? 

The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land and waterways, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses. 

About Strategy, Delivery & Performance 

The Deputy Secretary, Strategy, Delivery and Performance supports the Secretary to provide leadership and strategic direction to the integrated delivery of programs, policies and services within the Cluster, monitor and drive performance improvements across the Cluster, and implement the government's vision for a complex and significant Regional NSW portfolio, as well as assisting with regional insights and analysis across multiple portfolios and government agencies 

The role is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the whole-of-Cluster data and analytics function, monitoring performance of the Cluster, providing valuable data insights into regional NSW, and working with the other Deputy Secretary’s to identify and implement business improvements.

About the role 

As the Deputy Secretary SDP, you will represent NSW Government to identify and negotiate strategies with key external stakeholders, both nationally and internationally, to improve the economic and social outcomes of regional NSW.

You will lead and direct timely, expert, and authoritative advice to the Secretary, NSW Treasury and other Clusters, Cabinet and Ministers, enabling fully informed evidence-based strategic recommendations and decisions. 

As the Deputy Secretary you will be responsible for driving a continuous improvement culture within the team, ensuring that the service, information, and responsiveness of the team is meeting the needs of all stakeholders.

About you 

You will be a high performing, government senior executive with considerable experience delivering integrated and coordinated frameworks across a range of portfolios. You will have a thorough understanding of the complexity of government operations on both a state and national level, including a high-level understanding of legislative framework and reform, machinery of Government, Cabinet, and legislative processes. 

Additionally, you will have an extensive background in successfully managing highly sensitive and contentious programs in the public and private sectors, and ensure these programs are delivered with minimal business risk and a positive financial reputation. 

We also require the Deputy Secretary to demonstrate high-level leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across complex organisations.
