Primary objective

Deliver high level advice, guidance and coaching through a client focussed enterprise model and recommend best practice solutions across

Northern Territory Public Sector agencies.

Context statement

The One NTG model centralised corporate services in the NTPS. Service lines include; Recruitment, Change Management, Employee Relations,

Workers Compensation/Work Health and Safety (WHS), Dispute Resolution, Inability, Conduct, Workforce Relations Support and Performance

Management. The role currently available is in the Workers Compensation/WHS team, providing expert advice and support to proactively

manage workplace incidents and workers compensation claims.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high level Workforce Relations advice, guidance and coaching to clients across a range of service lines.

2. Case manage complex workplace issues such as disputes/grievances, discipline, medical, investigations and inability, recommending

appropriate courses of action for resolution and early intervention strategies.

3. Provide recruitment, change management and organisational design advice and support to agencies consistent with best practice and aligned

to legislative frameworks.

4. Triage case management / workload within the team, managing timeframes and take the lead in more complex matters.

5. Manage a team, provide consistent performance feedback and ensure expertise is provided to clients in a timely manner.

6. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with clients, human resource providers and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of

business objectives.

7. Collaborate in the development of contemporary HR management strategies, policies, procedures and internal documentation aligned to

corporate objectives, legislation and public sector initiatives.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Extensive experience and contemporary knowledge of strategic HR management and organisational effectiveness, with demonstrated

successful experience delivering the specific HR service mentioned in the context statement above viewed favourably.

2. High level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all levels to

positively influence human resource practices.

3. Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including the effective management of multiple complex and high priority

tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.

4. Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to interpret and apply legislation.

5. Highly developed written skills with demonstrated experience reviewing the work of subordinate staff to ensure accurate, comprehensive

correspondence for client agencies.

6. Ability to lead and manage a team in a multi-skilled, client focussed HR enterprise service environment.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative and respectful.

Desirable

1. Relevant qualifications in human resources or a related field.

2. Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation as it relates to NTPS employees or ability to obtain.
