JOB DESCRIPTION

To achieve this, significant focus is placed on problem identification and delivering the appropriate deal structure to solve the problem. This is to be completed while ensuring that the objectives of Maia Financial, its investors and other stakeholders are also achieved. Strategic projects encompasses work across Treasury, Credit, Legal, and other workstreams of strategic importance to Maia Financial. This area is integral to the growth and success of the business and your role will include standalone projects along with continuous innovation and improvement of existing processes across the business. You will be an integral member of the Maia Financial team, leveraging your skills in investing and finance to improve access to capital and facilitating growth. Finally, you are to ensure your work is fully aligned to Maia Financial’s business purpose, values and strategy. 

In order to achieve this outcome, we require the traits of a self-starter who is comfortable functioning in an unstructured environment. The experience required to achieve this outcome includes the following:

· Experience in corporate deal underwriting, specifically in the areas of structured finance, M&A, debt structuring;

· Demonstrated investing experience working with financial models, underwriting and presenting the business to internal / external parties

· Proven ability to work individually or collaboratively in an unstructured environment to engage with key stakeholders;

· Legal experience in the areas of corporate finance and debt;

· Experience presenting financial data and statistics to a variety of stakeholders including investors (large/small local/international).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Capital Raising and Funding

§ Maia Financial and its related entities have growth objectives that may necessitate raising external capital. We anticipate that you will make significant contributions towards completing any capital raisings that occur in the Group

§ The Group has sophisticated funding relationships that support our client offering. These relationships necessitate continuous interaction with external funders to improve and grow the funding platform. You will be expected to assist in fostering some of these relationships over time, with the goal of extending the Group’s funding capability for its product offering to clients

Strategic Acquisitions / JVs

§ The Group has historically capitalised on opportunities to acquire interests in other complimentary businesses or asset portfolios. To the extent similar opportunities become available in future, it is anticipated that you would make a significant contribution towards the underwriting and successful completion of these transactions

Treasury Operations

§ The team you will be working in is responsible for the oversight of the Group’s funding vehicles. The operation and administration of these vehicles will form part of your responsibilities

§ At Maia Financial our customers are of paramount importance and you will ensure that you will always live up to the company’s aim to provide the highest level of customer service

§ This will include managing your deliverables in terms of agreed turnaround times both internally and to external parties

RISK MANAGEMENT

§ At all times you will promote amongst the Maia Financial team risk identification and management culture which includes the identification and communication of risk issues, matters to ensure our company and its team members are always protected

DELEGATED LEVEL OF AUTONOMY (under review by Risk Council)

§ This will be communicated to you as necessary post commencement of your employment

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

§ Drive process improvements via the establishment of clearly defined guidelines and policies with the consensus of effected parties as to seek profitability improvements for the business

§ Ensure “best practice” processes across all areas of responsibility are maintained, aligning to Maia Financial’s strategies and initiatives wherever possible

§ Initiate policy review/development, identification of issues and trends and resolution of problems

§ Draft policies and procedures and implementation of legal, regulatory and compliance requirements

§ Lead special projects

COMPLIANCE

§ Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, free from discrimination and harassment by working in accordance with legislative requirements, the Business Code of Conduct and departmental human resource policies, including the WHS requirements (refer to staff intranet);

§ Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to these in all instances.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

§ Support and work collaboratively with the Treasury, Credit, Legal and other team members on commerciality and industry relevant practice

§ Work with the broader Maia Financial team (if required) to improve their relevant financial modelling knowledge, multi-skilling and development;

§ Participate in feedback sessions to ensure alignment within the team

§ Work collaboratively with broader business to ensure divisional objectives are achieved

TEAM MEMBER PROFILE

Education

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business or Law qualifications.

Post Graduate qualification in Finance (desirable).

Experience

Up to 8 years relevant experience.

Significant experience and understanding of corporate deal underwriting, specifically in the areas of structured finance, leveraged capital/finance, M&A and debt restructuring.

Demonstrated experience working with financial analytics to deeply assess the merits of a transaction.

Experience presenting financial data statistics to a variety of stakeholders.

Considerable legal experience in the above areas.
