We are looking for a full-time cooks to work in our busy restaurant. The ideal candidates for this position will have some previous experience in preparing Indian cuisine, enjoys working in a busy restaurant environment and can take direction well while being a team-player. Spirit of Punjab is the only traditional Indian restaurant in Halls Gap, the main tourist hub in the heart of the Grampians. This BYO licensed restaurant is one of the most popular restaurants in Halls Gap.

Duties and responsibilities

· Cook bread in clay oven and different varieties of rice

· Cook curries/dishes according to Diet requirement of customers

· Cut vegetables and meat according to dish requirements.

· Prepare different food/ingredients for different menu items by following safety and hygiene procedures

· Food handling and storage including temperature check and stock rotation

· Following work safety procedure

· Maintain proper cleaning of equipment and food prep area and sanitize work area after finishing work.

· Check stock at the end of shift and prepare stock list for weekly order of stock

· Training others and support other cooks

Skills and Experience required

· Qualification: A Certificate III or Certificate IV in Cookery (desirable)

· Previous experience as a Cook (desirable)

· Able to read and follow standardized recipes

· Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures

· Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
