Disability Support Worker - FAIRFIELD | WESTERN SYDNEY, NSW

Join is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Western Sydney and working primarily in Fairfield, Bankstown, Auburn, and Liverpool. Having operated for over twenty years and provide a broad range of children's, family, youth, mental health, disability, and early intervention services. 

Its organizational vision and mission focuses on social justice and working in partnership with our community. Our values include empowerment, empathy, compassion and innovation.

Delivering a range of integrated programs and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Shifts will include postings at day program, group homes, and client homes. Supporting clients with complex needs and challenging behaviours, duties will include providing personal care from time to time. The position is responsible for working day-to-day with clients in understanding and assisting them to achieve their goals. Disability Support Workers are to assist the clients, by adhering to NDIS plans that are designed to maximize positive outcomes and achievement of individual goals for each person.

  • Work with clients on a day to day basis to encourage, motivate them to meet their goals, recording their progress and evaluating and identifying ongoing steps to achieve their goals.
  • Compulsory duties include transporting clients to and from home/programmed activities and participating in hydrotherapy with clients.
  • Work to continuously encourage, motivate, acknowledge and validate all Disability team members in order to have beneficial and positive client-centric practice in every aspect of engagement.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with families, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the roster and commitment to your Duty of Care/WHS requirements
  • Portray values and attitudes in line with those of Respect, Equality, Dignity, and Understanding.


  1. Minimum Certificate III in Disability or equivalent. Candidates with no qualifications must be currently studying or willing to undertake study to be considered. 
  2. Experience in a care capacity of people with an intellectual and developmental disability.
  3. Ability to engage and recognise issues related to servicing CALD clients.
  4. Knowledge of NDIS, NDIS Quality and Safeguards, and the Disability Services Act.
  5. Commitment to social justice principles and access and equity.
  6. Skills in mediation and negotiation, collaboration and consultation with clients
  7. Commitment to and an understanding of WHS responsibilities
  8. Demonstrated high-level customer service/sales and networking/marketing service skills.
  9. Clear National Police Check and Working With Children Check
  10. Valid Drivers License, own vehicle, and comprehensive insurance (if transporting clients in own car)
