First Grade has partnered with the Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service to source a Practice and Development Manager to join their team on a permanent basis in Croydon.

The Role
The Practice and Development Manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding the quality of practice and supporting the programs team and training team in delivering quality cultural healing programs, therapeutic programs, accredited and non-accredited training.

Working closely with the CEO and having up to 7 direct reports, you will drive practice excellence throughout the organisation and support other practitioners in the development of programs and case plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of Aboriginal children, young people and their families and to achieve case plan objectives.

Boorndawan Aboriginal Healing Centre
Boorndawan William Aboriginal Healing Service (BWAHS) is the lead specialist Aboriginal specific family violence service that provides a service in the eastern metropolitan region that is inclusive of inner and outer east. They provide services to Aboriginal families, including men, women, children and the extended family. Their programs and activities are designed to encourage holistic healing, provide confidential, culturally sensitive support and assistance and encourage healthy lifestyles. They enable this through family violence education and awareness programs, individual and family support and engaging group activities to nurture and comfort those on a healing journey.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • A recognised tertiary degree or post graduate behavioural related degree and/or a minimum of 5 years family violence sector relevant experience
  • Well-developed understanding of the legislative, policy, and practice requirements relating to Aboriginal children, families, and communities impacted by family violence and is able to apply these skills in practice and decision-making
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated track record of people management with the ability to influence others, build strong teams, collaborate and develop partnerships
  • Understands risk to children and the impact on a child's development
  • Demonstrated high-level written skills with reports, monthly data compliance and acquittals
  • Proven ability to maintain high level of professionalism pertaining to privacy and confidentiality of clients, students, staff and BWAHS
  • Demonstrated well established ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, staff, clients and maintain mandatory reporting requirements
  • Ability to participate and represent BWAHS and BWAHS interests at various meetings as required
  • Demonstrated facilitation and training skills
