The Office of the DVC (Research and Innovation) supports enhancement of the University's performance and reputation in research, research training, and research collaboration with external stakeholders, nationally and internationally. This includes the strategic management of research at an institutional level; development of research policy; management of research strategic initiatives, and development of research collaborations in Australia and overseas. Units within the portfolio support the University's research community through strategic engagement with external stakeholders, funding organisations and research partners; international collaborations; grants management; research performance data management; research higher degree management; and research ethics and integrity.

Within the oDVCRI, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Development) (PVC-RD) is responsible for the advancement of researcher development at UQ for academic and professional staff, particularly early and mid-career researchers (EMCRs). This involves collaboration with University Divisions, Faculties and Institutes and across the Research & Innovation portfolio particularly with the Graduate School which is responsible for the program of researcher development for Higher Degree by Research students at UQ.

About This Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Researcher Development will work closely with the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Development) to create, facilitate and coordinate researcher development activities for academic staff, particularly early and mid-career researchers.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have either postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, extensive proven management expertise or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Further to this you will have demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a variety of research education and training delivery modes, including face-to-face and blended approaches. Applicants should have a proficiency with a range of information technologies, applications and learning management systems common to universities.

You will have a sophisticated understanding of the higher education environment and demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in research, researcher development, science and innovation policy, strategy and best-practice. Analytical and research skills and the proven ability to draw upon diverse bodies of data and information to identify issues and solve problems is essential for this position.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time 3 year fixed term position at HEW level 9.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $117,548.76 - $124,391.32, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $137,532.05 - $145,537.84.
