As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital’s (the Eye and Ear) has been providing care for the senses for 150 years. The Eye and Ear has over 50 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24 hour emergency eye and ear, nose, and throat service. The Eye and Ear provides care annually for around 250,000 patients, with over 200,000 outpatients, nearly 40,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients.

About the role



We are seeking an analytically minded individual to join our Medical Workforce Unit.


The HMO Manager is the primary point of contact in the management of the day to day issues relating to our Junior Medical Staff. This busy and exciting role requires a high-functioning administrator with an attention to detail who is able to work with very limited supervision after a period of intense training.


You will be responsible and accountable for the scheduling and implementation of rostering and orientation for approximately 80 Junior Medical Staff within defined budgets and rostering guidelines. You will also ensure adequate staff coverage at all times at the Eye and Ear and our satellite sites. The position also encompasses, but is not limited to complex medical staff rostering, management of all leave, fortnightly timesheets, secondment accounts payable and receivable and mandatory training and performance assessment processes. 


High level computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite, flexibility and the ability to work to extremely strict timelines under pressure are critical to ensure operational needs are met.


You will work closely with the Manager Medical Workforce to improve efficiencies and productivity within the Unit. You will also assist other member of the Unit in peak times and share leave cover. Therefore it is expected that, in time, you will become proficient with all responsibilities within the Medical Workforce Unit.



Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
