OTHER CONDITIONS:
This a twelve month fixed term contract with the possibility of permanency.

Arising from the impending retirement of the incumbent an opportunity exists for a motivated individual to take on this exciting role as a member of the Commission's corporate executive. If you are looking to expand your corporate services experience and build an opportunity for future progression in the public sector then this key role in a friendly and high impact organisation is for you.

Contributing to strategic outcomes and helping the Commission modernise its processes and systems, the Director Business Services is responsible for the effective management, leadership and provision of corporate service functions including human resources, financial management, governance, administration and occupational health and safety to support the core business of the Commission.

The successful applicant for this position will ideally have corporate services experience and be willing to embrace change management. They will also be able to support the Electoral Commissioner to achieve the Commission's strategic goals and objectives. To be successful in this role you will also have the capacity to implement the policy and legislative requirements of a statutory authority in the public sector.

This position may be subject to further minor change as part of an organisational review.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the effective management, leadership and provision of all corporate services functions including, human resources, financial management, occupational health and safety, governance and administration.
The position also provides advice to the Electoral Commissioner and participates as a member of the corporate executive in the planning and management of Commission business activities.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
ESSENTIAL:
• Experience in corporate support or business services roles including demonstrated leadership capacity.
• Demonstrated record of achievement in leadership, organisational development and outcomes at a senior management level.
• Ability to think and act strategically with a focus on operational and organisational outcomes.
• Experience in effectively managing projects and resources including contract management.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with major internal and external stakeholders and customers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
DESIRABLE:
• Application and knowledge of the Financial Management Act.
• Tertiary qualification that meets the Chief Financial Officer requirements of the Financial Management Act.
