We are currently looking to bring on a Project Coordinator with a background with Access/Occupations to join the Passenger Experience and Disruptions Team.

The Role
To support the planning and delivery of the passenger experience and disruptions team effectively as well as facilitating State Proposed Projects which require access and/or that interface with Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) network/infrastructure/operations.


  • Support program wide disruptions and passenger experience team where required
  • Manage the collation and distribution of the Occupation Readiness Reports as per works readiness process
  • Manage the MTM interface for state proposed projects/RPV through facilitation of third party access requests to MTM network/lease
  • Review and provide advice to third party and/or contractor access documentation including (but not limited to): project scope, competences, construction methodology, safe work method statements (SWMS), insurances, design documentation and associated plans.
  • Ensure third party projects comply with all applicable MTM procedures
  • Seek and obtain (through consultation) relevant internal and external stakeholder approval/endorsements as required by the project.
  • Assist with planning/coordination and management of critical MTM resources.
  • Coordinate and manage all required MTM permits, infrastructure isolations and/or track protections that may be required as part third party access/works.
  • Assist third party projects and/or contractors to understand and adhere to all applicable rail and safety legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Assist to build and establish strong working relationships with third party clients/customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the safety of MTM employees, third parties and/or contractors is at the forefront of all access/project related activities.
  • Lead and support team in implementation and accountability of ways of working program
  • Assist, contribute and support MTM's ongoing business improvement initiates.
  • Assist with any other duties/tasks as directed by MTM management.

About You

  • Past and/or current experience of working within the rail industry is preferable.
  • Proven project management and delivery experience of various scale and complexity is preferable.
  • Past and/or current experience in performing client facing roles is preferable.
  • Practical experience working on rail (or transport) based projects is desirable.
  • Past and/current experience with rail safety management is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time.
  • Ability to manage, use and maintain administrative systems to assist in the delivery of projects.
  • Ability to prioritise work tasks to ensure successful delivery of milestones within set deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to manage, forecast and report on project budget and financial aspects.
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, recommend and implement corrective control measures.
  • Ability to understand, comply and advise on occupational health & safety (OHS)/rail safety/environmental procedures.
  • Ability to apply and manage the conditions of the project contractual terms, documentation, and tendering bid processes
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, colleagues, stakeholders and client groups (both verbally and written).
  • Ability to identify customer specifications and requirements and continually assess project deliverables to ensure desired outputs are achieved.
  • Able to proficiently perform and operate latest software technology including (but not limited to): Apple/Android smart devices, Microsoft applications.
  • Holds a current (Victorian valid) Vehicle Drivers Licence – is required
  • Holds a current (Victorian valid) Construction Induction Training (White Card) certification – is desirable
