About The Role

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is accountable at an advanced practice level for leading and coordinating the Emergency Department to achieve best practice standards for clinical practice, patient centred care within a healthcare team and is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient human, material and financial resource management.

3 The Requirements For This Classification Are

The Emergency Department is currently classified as a level 4 emergency service. According to the Queensland Government Clinical Services Capability Framework for Public and Licensed Private Health Facilities v.

  • triage by qualified emergency staff
  • advanced care for all presentations (adult and paediatric)
  • ability to provide high-quality trauma care to medium and minor level trauma patients until transfer
  • a designated short stay unit
  • referral centre for Wynnum Manly Community Health Centre Gundu Pa.

The Emergency Department sees approximately 56,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year with an admission rate of approximately 18%.
