As the Procurement Category Manager, you will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to understand relevant Qantas Group business needs and objectives in order to support the Senior Manager Group Procurement to develop and manage category strategies that ensure value for money, appropriate levels of service and compliance with procedures and professional best practice. You will think innovatively, challenge the status quo and drive sustainable change. You will also be responsible for leading sourcing activities for relevant categories, including the creation and execution of RFx events in line with Category Strategy.

Other core responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Leads negotiations with suppliers to ensure contractual arrangements deliver commercial benefits to Qantas Group
  • Acts as SME in the provision of commercial legal advice to support purchase, sale and leasing transactions for Qantas Group
  • Identifies and develops initiatives to enhance process efficiency, performance and cost effectiveness
  • Manages and closely collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure needs are understood and incorporated into planning
  • take a lead to collaboratively support the Group Procurement leadership to manage a geographically diverse team and business stakeholders
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the team to ensure their growth, development and performance

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement or Business Management
  • CIPS accreditation and formal post graduate training
  • 5 + years strategic sourcing, category management and procurement experience, including at least 2 years leading category management and sourcing activity.
  • Advanced analytical, influencing, communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrates the ability to: influence and convince stakeholders, build effective business relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Prepare for and lead complex negotiations
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrable ability in: running cross functional projects/teams, delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment
