YOUR ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

Working alongside the entire Hogarth Content Studio, the Assistant Editor will be responsible for maintaining key post-production processes, organisation and file management throughout the business.

As the Assistant Editor, you will be involved in a variety of projects from broadcast TV commercials, online content, as well as all forms of video-based advertising and social media content materials.

To be successful in this role, you are expected to possess a strong understanding of Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve, with any experience with After Effects, Autodesk Flame & Photoshop preferable.

You must be organised and work in a structured and process-driven manner to support our full-time and freelance artists.

In the role of the Assistant Editor, you will combine both your creative skills with technical know-how, and will demonstrate an eye for detail, a calm nerve under pressure, and an understanding of storytelling, messaging and branding.

You are expected to be a creative and technical collaborator, to support the team and to attain a high level of work within the department.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities are as follows:

Operating

  • When required, take on editing and assembly jobs within Premiere Pro & After Effects.
  • Manage the Offline ingest, compiling & syncing processes of all incoming media.
  • Manage colour grade conforms and render processes, as well as any media requests from Colourists.
  • Oversee the online conform and render processes, as well as any media management or file prep requests from AE Artists and Flame Operators.
  • Effectively manage the final delivery component of all deliverables and specifications across TVC dispatches, online/social and Digital OOH channels.
  • A strong understanding of technical video and audio specs for various outputs and channels.

Post-production management

  • Oversee all upcoming edit suite bookings and manage the setup of hardware/software requirements for all bookings.
  • Assist our full-time and freelance artists through all stages of post-production, offering technical and workflow guidance.
  • Oversee the overall output of the post-production team and QC technical aspects of file delivery.
  • Upkeep of all project data, footage and digital files – including project setup and archiving, transferring of media between Hogarth offices and different partners.
  • Manage the production hardware and allocation to operators, from monitoring solutions, peripherals to grading panels and other computer hardware.
  • Management of production drives for upcoming shoots and for the transfer of assets to various partners.
  • Manage the file management of finalised project folders, including file mastering processes, file upload and tape archive.
  • Further your knowledge of technological advances in post-production processes and editing - production tools, plugins, applications and new techniques.

WHAT IT TAKES

You must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of Post-Production processes, workflows & media management.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve. Any experience with Autodesk Flame, Avid Protools, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop preferable.
  • You must be technically savvy and have a very close attention to detail.
  • A calm, effective and confident communicator, you will thrive in a fast-paced studio environment.
  • A systematic approach in all that you do while also having the ability to be agile and adapt to ever-changing demands.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to efficiently prioritise requests and adjust and respond appropriately.
  • Excellent service and client management skills with the ability to build rapport and manage ongoing relationships.
  • Concern for quality and pride in all work produced; consistently careful and methodical with a sharp eye for detail to ensure a consistent delivery.
  • The ability to work autonomously, solve problems, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude with a proactive approach to all jobs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with a strong emphasis on collaboration.

The following are desirable, but not essential:

  • Basic IT or technical troubleshooting experience.
  • A deeper knowledge of colour management processes & colour grading.
  • A deeper knowledge of 3D applications, workflows and processes – Cinema 4D, Nuke & Flame.
