Our Opportunity

The Corporate Branch provides a key support service to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (DRC). The branch provides a range of support services including Human Resources, Information Technology, Information Management, Finance, Operations and Interpreting support.

Under limited direction, the IT Assistant Director will lead a small team of dispersed IT officers to deliver a range of support functions to the Royal Commission.

Reporting to the Information Management and Information Technology Director, the key responsibilities include:

  • high level interpersonal skills, able to build and sustain productive working relationships both internally and externally
  • providing timely and practical advice, information and expert technical interpretation for support matters
  • contributing to identifying and implementing IT solutions to support staff with reasonable adjustments and/or accessibility needs
  • ensuring support service expectations are being met and investigate when they are not
  • supporting key events (for example Public Hearings), working collaboratively with other staff in the Royal Commission, to ensure that all events are successfully planned and implemented, including undertaking travel to provide on-site support as required
  • building IT capability across the Royal Commission, both within and outside of the direct team
  • producing and establishing regular reporting against IT performance and issues management
  • acting as the escalation point for the team
  • liaising and consulting with clients and other areas of the Attorney-General’s Department on technical support issues, problem resolution and assistance
  • contributing to a positive culture that values innovation and ideas.
The Successful Applicant Will Have
  • a sound understanding of ITIL or other frameworks that underpin the provision of high quality IT support
  • proven leadership skills
  • experience in managing a small to medium sized projects and contributing to significant programs of work
  • demonstrated responsibility and accountability for delivering professional, effective and efficient IT support to clients
  • an understanding of issues associated with providing IT support in a PROTECTED environment
  • the ability to uphold and model the APS Values, Code of Conduct, Employment Principles and AGD Performance Expectations.
