The successful applicant will provide support to the Senior Program Manager and the Latrobe Valley Asbestos Taskforce (LVAT) to deliver the objectives of the 2019 - 2022 Strategic Plan under the Asbestos Abatement Program.

The Program Officer will support the Senior Program Manager, Asbestos Abatement Program and the Latrobe Valley Asbestos Taskforce (LVAT) to deliver the objectives of the 2019 - 2022 Strategic Plan. The LVAT brings together a diverse range of stakeholders including State and Local Governments and authorities, workers representatives and community groups. It aims to bring about consistency, collaboration and improved community engagement and awareness for the identification, handling and disposal of asbestos.

This position will assist the Senior Program Manager with the coordination of communication and community engagement strategies that respond to community concern and contribute to greater awareness about asbestos in the Latrobe Valley. The Program Officer will also provide secretariat support to the Latrobe Valley Asbestos Taskforce including the preparation of meeting papers, recording of minutes, the implementation and monthly review of detailed project plans and other administration duties as required.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Experience in the field of written communications including social media is highly desirable.
Experience in supporting large and complex programs of work is also desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022. This position is located within the Gippsland region.
